Willingly wet water wonders!
Where? Leicester, Leicestershire
When? 21 April 2008
What's it about? At our school of children aged between 3-11 we are eager to add more plants to our pond/bog area. We have limited outside space in our school grounds and are very lucky to have a medium sized pond. The pond desperately needs more plants to encourage more wildlife to the area and to sustain an ecocycle. With the funds that you can donate, we would also like to have a team of volunteers working with pupils to paint information illustrations on the fence around the pond. This will help all to appreciate the pond with identification at any time of day and will add to outside classroom use and community involvement.

Growing Clean Food & Smelly Flowers
Where? Falkirk, Central
When? 24 April 2008
What's it about? We are a small Enhanced Provision with 17 children all with special needs to varying degrees. We have found that the children love to garden, and they have done some research on growing their own food. As you will be well aware money is at a premium in schools, and unfortunately as this is not a curricular activity, there is no funding. The class teacher and myself have spent a few pounds of our own money to get things going, and have begged or borrowed other items to assist us. The children would love to grow their own food, we would love it to be organic. I'm sure you will be aware children's attention spans can be low, so we have sown salad leaves, in pots so that they can get a 'result' fast. It would mean so much to us to have a resource, however small, to help us make our garden grow. :)
