It's Birdy Heaven
Where? Bridgend, Lothian
When? 16 April 2008
What's it about? The aim of the project is to make the garden of Bridgend Primary school more bird friendly. The garden is very exposed to prevailing winds and traditional bird tables continually fall over and get damaged by the wind. By planting a small group of trees the amount of wind hitting the garden will be reduced, the birds will have perches and we can hand bird feeders directly from the branches rather than relying on bird tables. The work will be done by eco-club students, students from Oatridge college and parent volunteers. They will dig holes for the trees, plant the trees, back fill and stake the trees. They will also help spread a wood chip mulch around the tree bases.

Skateboarders Against Litter.
Where? CROYDE, Devon
When? 19 April 2008
What's it about? The area around the Croyde village skateboard park has become an eyesore with lots of litter accumulating over the past 6 months or so. The main skateboard area is completely litter free as the young people really do look after it very well. But, the surrounding areas are not so clean. The skateboarders and the youth get blamed for this other litter, even though actually it has either nothing or very little to do with the youth. Croyde's skateboarders and youth would like to show community spirit and willing and offer to pickup all the litter around their skateboard area (at the rear of Croyde Village Hall); We have a village green, the bank along side the road, the bank along side the NDDC car park and the adventure play area. Volunteers will walk around these areas with large black bin sacks and pickup any little they find.
