Magic Circle

What's it about? We would like to transform an area of our school field into a 'magic circle', an area outlined by a hedge with a tree in the centre (for shade) and carpeted with wild flowers. It will provide a quiet place for children to sit, relax and enjoy their surroundings. The wild flowers and native hedge plants will encourage birds, butterflies and mini beasts. The children and parents will be marking out the circle, preparing and planting the tree, hedge and wildflowers.

What's it about? following the success of Posh Nosh 2007 - we asked our volunteers to plant asparagus crowns - we intend to get volunteers to plant up a second set of asparagus crown and a hazel sapling infected with truffles; when growing the asparagus fronds attract beneficial insects, asparagus is a gourmet food so hopefully once its gown we'll be able to sell it on to the social economy cafe network in Cardiff -thus providing Inroads with an income and reducing food miles ; the hazel will provide sticks for climbing plants and attract useful insects and provide us with bulk quantity truffles - a high price food which can sell to provide income for Inroads; truffles are generally imported from France or Italy so any UK production of truffles will reduce air miles, participants will have the chance to learn about bio friendly slug busting - garlic slime and metal rings

Hampden Park Fencing and Out Building Renovation

What's it about? Volunteers are to renovate existing metal hoop fencing by wire brushing, undercoating and glossing, over a period of approximately 3 weekends commencing 12th April 2008. Volunteers will also paint a disused ice cream kiosk thereby improving the wooded environment and removing graffiti. Disused building and fencing are located in a wooded urban park.
