Think "Fantastic Plastic"
Where? Nelson, Lancashire
When? 22 March 2008
What's it about? We’re going to recycle materials and use them to develop props for games. We’re reusing plastic saved from landfill to encourage ideas from young paddlers, which we can use and reuse with community groups. As plastics are waterproof, colourful and hardwearing they are ideal to reuse and we aim to inspire creative thinking. The children will learn that, with a bit of thought, readily available materials (which would usually be thrown away like plastic milk cartons, polythene carrier bags and fruit packaging) can be crafted into games equipment. Over the evening, our youth section will try new ideas, discuss different materials which can be used and will be encouraged to adapt or suggest other examples for volunteers to make for future sessions. We want volunteers to register ideas, test games, adapt suggestions and develop worksheet.
