The Secret Garden

Desirable Dormitories for Dozing Dormice

What's it about? During routine maintenance of bird boxes located on Harnham Slope, a wooden area of the edge of Selbury city, a dormouse way discovered illegally in a bird box! Harnham Slope has already been recorded at the Biological Records Centre and the project now is to purchase and erect boxes specifically suited to dormice, in an attempt to aid the recovery of the endangered species.

Kings Mede Meadow Project

What's it about? As part of a bigger project to develop some waste land near to Moorends Marshland Primary School. The children have been asked to help DMBC staff in developing this site as a community wildlife area for everyone in the community to access. Parent, grandparents and local residents have also been asked to volunteer with the children in developing the site. The children themelves have come up with different ideas for developing a wildlife area, including creating a large meadow area to attract various mini beasts. They also wish to create a sense of height into the garden by creating a small hill - that will need grass seed.
