Operation Bowl of Radish
Where? Stakeford
When? 26 June 2008
What's it about? The Action Earth Project we intend to carry out in June is a creative and exciting one for our young volunteers. The idea is to create a crop of salad that can be grown from seed and then prepared to promote healthy living and the importance of environmental issues.
The project involves planting a salad crop in the shape of a circle and caring for the salad plants until ready to eat. The project will be ongoing as the feeding and watering of the plants will be over months.
The planning of the project has involved researching types of salad plants that can be grown at this time of year and how they need to be cared for. The project is designed in line with the facilities available to the group at Bomarsund Allotment. We would like support to buy the materials needed for the project. The needs of the patch have been well researched and will involve making protection from wildlife and the elements.
