What's it about? We are trying to set up a garden within our school whcih will be used by the whole school of over 400 primary aged children. The garden will include plants, flowers and vegetable and all classes will have an allotated time within the week to use and maintain the garden. The produce that we grow will be used within the school kitchen to provide school meals. We hope that the project will encourage children to be more aware of their enviroment and hopefully give them the gardening bug!

The Big Dinner!
Where? Barnetby Le Wold

What's it about? This is an on going project that will need maintaining from June to September. We are going to plant up raised beds on our school grounds, with a range/variety of vegetables. This project will support science in KS1/KS2, Healthy Eating and our Gardening Club.
Last year we grew baking potatoes and had the whole school participate in 'Bake potato day'. This year we would like to be more adventurous.

Community Garden Development

What's it about? We aim to restructure our community garden by using recycled tyres given to us by a local garage. Once the tyres are put in place they will be filled with soil etc. painted and planted an array of plants and flowers within the tyres. These will compliment the project carried out from last years funding.

Gorseing The Blue Lagoon
Where? Scunthorp

What's it about? The Blue Lagoon is a reclaimed site which has a lake in the middle of it. We are planting the site up with self set trees from an area which is going to be developed and volunteers have been very busy helping with this. We also have moved grasses and reeds, again from a site about to be developed. The volunteers will be assisting in planting gorse 250 on the site along with other trees on the daay.

The Great Fossil Hunt

What's it about? Sawcliffe Hill is rich in undiscovered fossils - volunteers are being invited to spend a day on a fossil hunt so that we can interpret the site geologically. We will be using the CSV funding to provide all the fossil guides of other equipment needed to undertake the survey. This will be combined with a litter-pick of the area.

Bring Nature To Our Car Park

What's it about? We need to bring our car park in line with the recreation ground attatched to our site.We will be planting trees, shrubs and flowers to compliment the woodland walk and planting already existing on the playing field. Disabled Leisure Site Enhancement

Clear two areas of barren land and plant a variety of trees and shrubs to screen the site from the adjacent cenetaery and provide a barrier between the car park and leisure facilities. Super sustainability - flowers for the future

What's it about? To turn an unused currently, mown field, into a meadow area that can be enjoyed by the whole school so that we can attract and encourage, butterflies etc. It could then be used as a nature resource area within different currriculum subject areas i.e. science, geography art literacy etc.
