The Community Garden
Where? Ermine, Lincoln
When? 28 June
What's it about? the allotment of land at the back of Lambeth house is being turned into a community garden. Volunteers so far have cleared the land of all rubbish and renovated the land for the purpose of placing raised flowerbeds, pathways and seating area, play area for children, including a sandpit and chalk wall. The fencing has been painted ready for local children to lace murals etc. Work is still being done on placing the pathways around the area, wide enough for wheelchair access. This is from a donation of paving slabs. Once beds are in place flowers will be needed.

Trees Love Care

When? Tuesday 22nd April
What's it about? Trees Love Care is to ensure their survival and increase the number of Trees reaching maturity. Volunteers will be removing tree guards that are restricting the growth of the trees, as well as straightening cans and re canning. Followed by light pruning of tree tress.

Candid Camera

What's it about? To produce and fit a nest box with a digital camera to enable the group to see the effect for the birds of all the work they have carried out building nest boxes over the past years. Volunteers will build nest box and install a camera, and erect and connect camera to a television set.

Make it a Bird Birthday Cake

What's it about? To produce a high energy cake for wild birds using ingredients purchased plus others brought by the volunteers. Volunteers will produce a bird cake that will be used by members of the group. Extra cake to be made to be passed to senior members and toddlers to hang up for the birds.

A Blooming Good Idea
Where? Grimsby

What's it about? The centre already has a community garden within its grounds and we wish to enhance this be removing an old bench that has become dangerous to the public. As a group we need to dig up the concrete that the bench is fixed to, dig the area over and turn it into a flower bed. On one side we have an apple tree, with your help we would like to purchase seeds and bulbs to plant, plus another apple tree to plant on the opposite side to give the area a symmetrical look.

Dry Stone Walling

Water Litter Pick

What's it about? The cadets of Lincoln Unit will be taking out their boats supervised by suitably qualified staff, onto the Brayford Pool and clearing litter along the waters edge and lower banks. We will supply a safety boat for the event and litter collected will be taken away using a trailer.
