What's it about? We would like to redesign our school garden, to create a very large border to enable us to plant a wild flowers, lavender, budlia and other shrubs and flowers to attract wildlife into the garden such as butterflies and bees. Our gardening club, includes our years5 and 6 children plus parents and community volunteers. They will clear the site, purchase and plant shrubs etc. Once mature the garden will be available for use througout the school for nature observation science etc.

Leybourne Lakes and Dissabled Fishing Access

What's it about? We would like to create disabled fishing access at Leybourne Lakes Country Park; we are going to do this by creating a graded ramp accessible to all wheelchair users and a hard standing fishing area next to the lake. We are also going to incorporate a litter pick to clean up the area and create a Reptile habitat.

What's it about? Faversham library has always had its own small garden. Over the years we have won awards for in the Kent Wildlife Garden scheme. However we have not had a (volunteer) gardener for a few years until very recently. Our new volunteer gardener is very enthusiastic and has enspired us to be the same! The garden needs a good 'going over' and we would also like to be more green by a having both a compost bin and a water butt installed. We love our garden and use it and want to get the best out of it and do the best for it!

What's it about? We have opened an after school club where students will be involved in planting and caring for a variety of vegetables and flowers. Space is limited so we are having to make purpose built flower beds and pots in which to grow the produce. We also compost food from the staff room and this will be used to ensure the produce is organically grow and students will be encouraged to research natural ways of 'debugging' and caring for the plants as well as maintaining the compost bins.; Once underway and produce is grown we will then be selling the produce to the staff at break and lunchtime and linking up with the business end of the school so that the funds raised can be used to buy new seeds etc for the following year.; We are also hoping to be able to purchase plants etc that will encourage more wildlife into the area and obtain bird boxes and feeders etc so that the area can than be used by the science and art department.

A Great Place to Read

What's it about? We would like to create a garden at Lyminge Library. Lyminge Library is a small part-time library, situated at the centre of the village of Lyminge The library is in the Old Booking Office of the Old Station and the garden at the rear was once the platform on the Elham Valley Line to Canterbury. The rear garden is looking in a very sorry state and with some money and tender loving care it could be a "Great Place to Read" We would like to use the volunteers to design a garden, that would have colour and smell, that would attract butterflies and insects, and would be suitable for the visually impaired to sit out and enjoy the smell and touch of plants and flowers. We would like to provide a bench. We would like to use volunteers of all ages, and with this in mind we would like to use the Whitsun half term school holidays to start on this project
