"Give Bees a Chance"
Where? Monmouth
When? Wednesday 13th May 2009
What's it about? We would like to collect compost and add it to the soil in existing flowerbeds to improve fertility. We intend to buy and plant a variety of herbs e.g. lavender, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage and Mint to attract bees and produce a lovely fragrance for our little oasis of green in the centre of town. We have what we believe to be a 500 year old meadow with plants, shrubs and flowers which are hard to find anywhere else in the UK due to the introduction of modern pesticides. We want to preserve our unique garden. This project is part of the Nelson Garden Restoration project, which will see the opening of our new Community garden.

New Hope Clear-up Project
Where? Newport
When? 27 May 2009

Groups of young people from three local churches are volunteering their services, and will be supported and supervised by their own church-based youth workers and the local Community Development Team.; ; The embankment is by the side of the main road leading into the Ringland estate, which is used by many people driving in and out of Ringland and local people walking into to use the shopping facilities and the local primary school. This is a highly visible area, just in front of Ringland Presbyterian Church and the local community cafe, which contributes to many people's first impressions of Ringland. Volunteers will clear up rubbish and plant new shrubs and flowers. It is hoped that volunteers from a local community environmental group (Ringland Woods Conservation Group) will be involved in planning and designing the planting on the embankment.
