Gardening Against Crime.

What's it about? Invite all Primary Schools within the Clacton area to take part in a Gardening Competition. The children to develop or maintain a garden within the school which the panel will judge. There are two winning schools, overall winner and best improved which both get a prize that will be used in the maintenance of their gardens. All schools entered receives a certificate and every child that takes part also receives a certificate.

Chelmsford River Clean Up

What's it about? The rivers Chelmer and Can run through Chelmsford Town and we have a problem with lots of litter thrown in the river, shopping trolleys, bicycles, drink cans, general litter, etc. We need boats and divers to help retrieve this litter plus lots of volunteers to pick litter from banks/surrounding area.

Clean Sweep Champs
Where? Halstead

What's it about? We will clear and clean specific areas of Halstead (i.e. around 2xprimary schools and 1xsenior school and 1xinfil site) litter picking and tidying in conjunction with Braintree District Council's Community Champions and Spring Clean Week. Volunteers will work in teams to clear the sites specified. Braintree District Council will collect bags of rubbish collected and any green waste will be re-cycled by BDC.

Children Go Batty In The Church Yard

What's it about? To build and erect bird and bat boxes in the churchyard of Little Totham ancient parish church, which is a managed conservation area. The work will be done by young children supported by their parents and volunteer leaders with help and advice from appropriate experts.
Little Totham is a very small village with no school, shops, PO, bus or village hall. The church is the central meeting point for the village for children's days, mother and toddler groups, concerts and other social activities.
Activity days, which this funding will support, help give to give the children a sense of village identity and a greater appreciation of wildlife.
