Wild About Walter's Wood
Where? Ouston

What's it about? The wood is an ancient woodland at the edge of the village of Ouston, it has often been given a cursory clean of crisp packets and cans, but this is an opportunity to deep clean it, make and put up bird boxes and control some of the beech regeneration. This will make a big difference not only to the appearance of the wood, but also to the biodiversity using it. We have been offered help by a local school but keen to attract more volunteers too and make a big day of it.

Mini-Beast Explorations

What's it about? We will explore the local area to examine which flora and fauna are found for a biodiversity survey and each year after compare our findings. We will concentrate on insects, birds, plant identification etc and record our findings. In order to be able to examine insects sufficiently we will be creating wildlife habitats from old logs and other bits of recycled materials such as old tyres etc.
