Watch The Birdy!
Where? Langholm
When? 30 July 2009
What's it about? The project I propose is erecting a nest box with camera outside our local Tourist Information building. The TIC is manned by volunteers and is used also as a moorland education / information centre. The TIC is in a grassy, park area whcih is used daily by local people and visitors to the town. I feel that having a nest camera and being able to show footage of what ever birds use the box will be a great oppprtunity for the community. The building is manned by volunteers and those volunteers will help to erect the box. The TIC building and park area is a focal point for the ton with car park, picnic area and children's play area - so a great place for the nest camera to be. Students at the local school have made bird boxes with wood donated from the local landowner, so this would be a real community project.
