The Wonderworms of Egloskerry

What's it about? We are going to install a wormery on the premises near to the classrooms with easy access so the children and staff can feed the worms with kitchen and lunchtime fruit waste. We hope to use the liquid food produced for the children's garden plots. We can use it as a teaching aid for food chains, recycling, and helping the environment. Staff and volunteers from local gardening club help with after- school club and wormery will provide an example of the perfect waste disposal system producing liquid feed and compost!

Monkey Poo Compost

What's it about? As part of the Sanctuaries sustainability plan we try to reduce our landfil where ever possible. One effective way is to compost all the monkey waste. Volunteers will be turning and mixing the compost within a four bay system. The stable compost from last year will be distributed around the gardens and woodland.

Warbstow Bug Hotels

What's it about? Primary school pupils aged 3-11 will be working with a local scientist to renovate a local pond. Bugs, creatures and other creepy crawlies and their will be identifies by pupils. A weeklong activity will bring the conservation area into the Warbstow outdoor curriculum. Bug hotels will be constructed to encourage pupils to monitor the progress of their adopted creatures
